First Smiles Caught on Camera

She has been smiling a lot lately in response to antics from Mom & Dad. This is different from the involuntary, eyes-closed smiles that she's been giving us the last few weeks as she is drifting off to sleep.


Layla gets really happy and excited about playing on her activity mat. It is a joy to watch her yank and kick at the colored rings and get all worked up and delighted at herself in the process.


In addition to smiling in response to us, Layla has also started cooing and "talking" over the last few days. She seems to have a lot to say about playing on her mat--she really makes a lot of noise while laying on this thing!


Knew we'd have the best chance of capturing one of her smiles while she was playing on the mat since it seems to make her so happy. We were lucky...finally got some of her cute baby smiles caught on camera for the first time.
