Layla celebrated her big 2nd Birthday on February 4! She chose to sleep the night before in her beloved "Monkey Jammies" and demanded to keep them on the entire morning. We started the day eating banana smoothies and toast on the kitchen floor. Then she got to open her presents from us.
Every kid needs an assortment of musical instruments.
As it turns out, a container of 100 plastic "counting animals" is Layla's most favorite toy. It is comprised of about 20% kitty cats, which she makes us hide-and -eek for among the rest of the animals and then we line them all up like a little cat army. She also enjoys putting the animals into bowls, stirring them up into "soup", which she then feeds us. If you've never tried plastic puppy soup, it is quite delicious, let me tell you.

After a couple hours playing with new toys, we got dressed and went to Monkey Joe's, which is one of those indoor play places with bouncy castles and such. Layla wasn't really that into it, and so we cut our losses and ended up at Dairy Queen eating ice cream sundaes for lunch!
