$15 Challenge - October 2 thru October 8

We just got back from an amazing morning at the zoo.  The weather was perfect, Layla was having a great time, and it all sunk in again just how lucky I am that my job is to hang out with her all day.

We got to the zoo early enough this morning with just enough time left to ride the carousel for free.  She almost ripped her stroller harness in excitment as we approached, shouting "RIDE da SEEBRA!! (zeebra)".

Then we boarded the Zooline Railroad Train ($5).  I love riding the train with her, because she snuggles all close to me on the seat and holds my hand through the tunnels. Aw.

After the penguins, snakes, and the tiny monkey house, we settled in for some lunch.  I was thrilled to find a cafe with some healthy, non-hot-dog options.  A fruit & cheese tray for Layla, a veggie-hummus wrap & iced tea for me used the rest of our $15.  Layla stuffed her mouth with cheese and ate about half of my veggie wrap.  She was having one of her grape-snob days, and refused to eat the zoo grapes, preferring to feed them to Mommy instead.

Two little birds joined us for lunch.  The bigger one made a snack out of a grape that Layla threw on the ground.

After lunch, Layla ran up and down the handicapped ramp for about 20 minutes, chugged almost an entire water bottle, and passed out in the stroller walking back to the car.
