It started as the sniffles and then developed into a full blown infection last Friday. We took her to Dr. Hollie to get some antibiotics, which she started that night. Poor baby had a fever on and off through Monday.
All she wanted was to be held and kept cool. We gave her lots of leukwarm baths and kept cold washcloths on her head. She cried a lot and didn't sleep very well.

Needless to say, Mom & Dad didn't sleep very well either. Jeff had to rock her back and forth on his lap to keep her calm and asleep.

We helped keep her nose clear through a little Swedish tool called "Nosefrida, The Snotsucker". I had read about it online because we weren't having much luck with the bulb nasal aspirator. This thing is magic. Parents use the power of their own lungs to propel snot out of their babies' head. It basically sucks their brains out, but it's completely safe. Here's a demo:
By Tuesday, Layla was back to her healthy, happy self again!
I've never seen or heard of that device before...interesting. Although I would probably barf all over the kid, lol. Jeremy got a big bulb syringe from the hospital and it works wonders! Those little ones they sell at stores are a waste of money.
ReplyDeleteGlad she is doing better. Sick babes are the worse. It's so sad to see them miserable.
