What's all the fuss about?

It turns out that new teeth are the cause behind some recent bouts of fussiness and general unpleasant demeanor exhibited by our child.  She started sprouting her 1st tooth on 9/19 and the one next to it has just started coming in this week.  Poor baby had a runny nose, diaper rash, and lots of gum pain over the last few weeks leading up to the big debut of her new pearly whites.

Layla has been chewing and putting everything into her mouth to massage those little gums.  Toy dogs, giraffes, Daddy's finger, her own finger...you name it, it's been covered in baby saliva somewhere in our house.

And a week later, you can clearly see 'Ol Snaggletooth when she smiles--it's about half-way in.

Now that teeth have popped through, she is so much happier and playful!  I just read on wikipedia that children have 20 teeth by the time they are about 2 years old.  It seems like we can look forward to repeating this process every other month or so...let the fun begin!
